PostSubject: Round 3: Luna Ingarra vs. Byakuya Hyuuga    Wed May 11, 2011 8:50 pm

OOC: I am not gonna type a different post for each topic so from now on I'm just copy and pasting XD

The second round had finished and the crowed was already ready for the next. The proctor for the exams, Kirameku Umiha had really enjoyed that last battle. She hoped the next would be as great as the last. Hopefully even better. She began to speak into the mic again, "That was such a fun fight.." The crowed cheered, seemingly agreeing with her. "Let me tell you something.. Watching these genin fight to prove themselves really gets me wanting more.. So let's not wait!" She faced the large screen once more and waited.. "The next two competitors are.." Two more names appeared on screen: "Luna Ingarra of Kumogakure and Byakuya Hyuuga of Konohagakure!" she exclaimed. "Will both competitors please make their ways to the arena.."

Byakuya rose from where he had been seated and made his way, in a very deliberate fashion, down to where the fight was to be. The previous two matches had been illuminating, and now Byakuya had a better gauge of the "normal" level of skill for the participants. For comparison purposes, it would be useless to compare himself to the other combatants as the conditions for the match were simply too different. There were simply too many variables to account for, to much variation among the styles of fighting that he'd seen. If all went according to plan however, Byakuya should have the element of surprise on his side. The secrets of the Hyuuga clan were many, and there was little that any foreign shinobi should know about him and his abilities without prior experience fighting a Hyuuga clansman (altogether a very unlikely prospect), his strengths and weaknesses should be relatively unknown. In addition, since he had several abilities, as far as he knew, that were unique to him alone, it should give him a slight advantage. This was a double-edged sword however. Just as his opponent should have little idea of what to expect from him, he likewise would have no idea of what to expect from his opponent. Upon assessing her appearance and initial stances, Byakuya would decide on what to do. Most likely, he would have to feel her out first, and determine from the data accrued in this manner the most applicable strategy though admittedly, he only had one effective method of ending a battle. There were a few other options available to him however.

Reaching the middle of the field, Byakuya slowly pivoted and sunk gracefully into a modest Jyuuken stance. It was essentially a stance of transition. His posture was such that he could within an instant switch from defense to offence or vice versa. It was the swiss-army knife of jyuuken stances and was the stance with which Byakuya began most of his battles. Once his opponent came down to stand with him, Byakuya's strange eyes would bore into his opponents, searching out every flaw from the moment she came within sight. Byakuya was not one to underestimate any opponent regardless of stature, gender of any other superficiality. It was by skill that Byakuya would gauge his level of intensity and focus. To this end, Byakuya utter a single word, in the presence of all those assembled.

"Byakugan."

Immediately his already strange eyes would take on a disturbing intensity, the blood vessels surrounding his eyes swelling, pumping blood and chakra to his wide grey eyes, which would take on an eerie piercing quality. His range of vision extended, Byakuya would take note of every detail, paying fine attention to detail. If Luna had secrets...she'd best be very good at hiding them. Byakuya was as a statue, resolute and immutable. Attaining near-perfect stillness, he was as silent as a sentinel. Even as a slight wind ruffled his dark clothing, he was staring, analyzing, preparing.

Luna slowly stood to her feet striating herself as if trying to look slightly taller, though only standing at four foot she clearly was going to have a height and weight disadvantage. Her long silver hair hung to her lover back it swayed slightly as she walked, her pail purple eyes showing a hint of nervousness in them, she was slightly nervous, she wasn’t sure exactly who she was up against but his name rang in her head…..the clan name sent chills up her spine…. She was at a disadvantage not knowing… But then again he was at a disadvantage himself….. after all the name Ingarra was nothing more than a name to many.

Slowly she made her way into the arena; she looked at her hands for a moment the ink still there on one hand a Kuni on the other a sword. She knew the wings drawn on her back where there, in fact she knew they always would be there. She ran her hands down her side till she touched the pouches on each hip the right containing her blood weapon, the other her ink weapon. Slowly she reached behind her back and removed her sketch book holding it in one arm…… she looked at her feet she had changed outfits before the fight on request of one of her fellow shinobi, instead of the white sundress she would of preferred wearing, she had changed into her normal mission clothes a black tank top with a fishnet shirt over top a black jacket with purple on the shoulders , the hood and the zipper track. Her black shorts that where almost hidden by her jacket, and a pair of black shoes. She let out a nervous sigh she pulled the hood over her head with her free hand casting a shadow over her eyes.

Taking her position across from him she gave a polite bow of respect. “Please to meet you,” Luna said shyly her voice very nervous “Let’s have a good fight kay?” she smiled weakly clearly not being very confident in herself.

"Excellent. You're both here!" Kirameku said gleefully. She looked at both of the genin. The girl was really short! Even shorter than her when she was that age. She wondered if Luna would be able to handle this. Then again.. Underestimating a person based on height alone will be a problem. She looked at the Hyuuga boy and nodded. "Alright then. There are two rules in this fight." She informed them, "The first rule is: No outside help. You must rely on your own strength. And the second rule is: The match is over when I say it's over. If any of you continue to fight after I end the match I will be forced to take action." She looked at both genin. "Now then.." she paused and once more turned on the mic, "Begin!" and so started the third match. The crowed began to cheer loudly.

"You as well."

Was all Byakuya said. For a long moment he assessed Luna's posture, attempting to decide on the best angle of attack. His arsenal was limited for now and he certainly couldn't lead with his more powerful attacks. He mentally ticked off a list of his available equipment. He need to first gauge her reaction speed. Then he would test her versatility, if he could. Afterwards he could arrive at the quickest possible path to victory. In an abstract way Byakuya wondered what unique abilities, if any, his opponent possessed.

After remaining immobile for a long moment deciding on the best strategy, Byakuya's hands moved lightning quick, retrieving three kunai and throwing them with great precision towards her midsection, wide enough apart that moving out of the way at the distance between the two of them would be a very impressive feat, yet close enough together that they could not be dodged between. Whilst this was occurring Byakuya was spinning gracefully around by pivoting on his right foot, which happened to be the foot closest to Luna, concealing his next action from Luna's gaze...the rustling of paper was heard however, for a split second. Byakuya was currently six meters away from Luna's position. Byakuya was paying detailed attention to his surroundings, and was preparing for several possible scenarios, including the possibility of projectile attacks.

The match was begun.

Luna waited, she wasn’t going to make the first move, she would allow her fellow genin to have that honor. And it didn’t take him long to except it, his attack was rather predictable in fact it was how a good analyst would start a fight. But she hesitated for a moment indicating she wasn’t all that quick at thinking on her feet, but then she sprang into the air. As soon as she was well off the grown a pair of bird like wings appeared on her back…. Her eyes gave off an eerie purple glow; she had used her artist eye. The artist eye allowed her to turn the wing like tattoo on her back into something more real….

“Nicely done,” she whispered mostly to herself as she ran a hand over her sketch book slowly, the hand began to glow a pail purple much like her eyes, “Page number four,” she muttered as her chakra flowed through the pages a flash of purple light came from behind a clump of trees. “MION! SHINO!! GO!!!” Luna commanded as two abnormally large wolves began to stalk towards the boy, each armed with 4 pairs of steel claws. Luna grinned as she pulled two smoke bombs from her pocket and throwing them to the ground turning the 200 meter area around the male into a black cloud…..Useless but she knew what she was doing…or so she hoped..

Into the cloud of smoke they ran Mion going for the boys throat, and Shino attending to swipe her claws across his ankles, the where clearly being used as test dummies but it wasn’t like they knew any better, it’s not like Luna gave them any free will… IN fact Luna just wanted to see how he would react to the situation, she also wanted to test his defenses.

While certainly surprised at the turn of events, being that Byakuya hadn't even heard of such ninjutsu that would allow a user grow wings in order to fly, it would not alter the strategy he had already been using. Indeed, by the time Luna had launched herself into the air, Byakuya was already finished preparing for what he was about to do next. He continued his graceful spin, and Luna would at this point clearly see that both of his fists were positively full of kunai with explosive notes attached (three for each fist, six kunai and six explosive notes in total).

The rustling of paper that Luna should have heard occurred directly after Byakuya's initial attack (meant to distract, not to injure) and was a result of Byakuya rather hastily attaching the explosive notes to the kunai. Byakuya would therefore reasonably complete this action just as Luna reaches the apex of her dodging maneuver and was about to implement her counter attack, which, if Byakuya did not have access to the increased perceptive abilities of the Byakugan, might have possed quite the problem for him. Fortunately, this was not the case, and Byakuya was well able to attach the tags to his kunai while also keeping tabs on Luna's actions. Due to their relatively close proximity, the fact that Byakuya had intentionally hidden his actions from his opponent until the precise moment at which it would be difficult to react to what he had planned, as well as Luna's current position in the air (which indeed makes Byakuya's strategy all the more effective, irrespective of the increased aerial mobility as a result of the aforementioned wings), Byakuya's precise timing, and finally the fact that Luna's reaction time should also suffer a sharp decrease as a result of the presumed unpredictability of this method of attack, one would reasonably expect that Luna would have a difficult time defending and dodging would be even more difficult. Consequently, whatever defense Luna must now put up would have to be both abnormally fast, and effective.

At this point in time, given that Byakuya had begun attaching tags to the kunai as soon as he made his initial attack, Luna should be pulling out her scroll, as it would have taken her a moment to dodge Byakuya's initial kunai attack. Given this, it should be quite easy for Byakuya, given that he already had his weapons prepared and that Luna was currently in the process of counter attacking, to swiftly and skillfully let loose his prepared barrage (before the smoke bombs), allowing three such items to escape his right hand where they would slice through the air and embed themselves snugly within the countenance of both lupine assailants, all the while but one of the loosed projectiles would continue its deadly path to Luna's midsection. This should stall the wolves in their approach, as well as present a significant dilemma for Byakuya's foe soaring just above the battlefield.

After this stage in his plan had progressed to fruition, in all likelihood unhindered, Byakuya would implement this, the end step of his strategy. With a single hand seal and an almost unintelligible utterance,

"Kai."

He would allow the kunai to achieve their greatest purpose, which was timed in such a way that should all go according to plan, all three potential assailants should be caught in a deadly eruption of flame, light, sound, and force which should most likely cause grave injury to all affected parties, utterly destroying those two who were closest to Byakuya's position. Byakuya was uncertain from a moral aspect if his chosen strategy was appropriate, but given Luna's skillful dodge of his initial attack and her rather impressive abilities, he would be rather interested in her fate. Either way, Byakuya calculated that while Luna stood a very high chance of being incapacitated by his attack, in all liklihood, even taking into account her small frame, that the medical ninjas were were-able to account for any mortal injuries his opponent might incur. Amidst the loud noises was the ever so faint rustle of paper.

As a side effect of the above occurrence, whatever the outcome, Byakuya's position should become utterly lost due to the smoke clouds, and his opponent and her lupine companions would most likely have to wait for them to disperse before catching sight of strange-eyed foe once more. The wolves (if they were still around) could of course track Byakuya by scent, but it would still take them a few seconds to react to the kunai. In any case, Byakuya had already taken steps do defend both himself and his position, an atypically inventive snare embedded in terra firma that could be triggered by his attackers at essentially any moment at which conditions were met. The earth around the black clad ninja was disturbed in packed-down clumps. What Byakuya was up to now would be obvious to an outside observer, or at least one that was not looking at the fight from Luna's side of the cloud, but for Luna and the wolves, it would be a guessing game as the clouds began to fade. Byakuya, however, was not the sort to waste such an opportunity...

Byakuya was in a very familiar stance, watching and waiting, holding his new position empty-handed. An outside observer would see Byakuya in a very odd looking position, but one clearly meant for attack. What he would do would largely depend on Luna's next actions, however. Byakuya welcomed the smoke bombs. It would only aid his new strategy, extending the amount of time he could operate under cover of smoke, while also retaining the advantage of sight.
